Could the JWs sway you back...?
by new22day inop based on mr. freeze's topic - could attending the meetings/studying again sway any of you back to the org.
hearing the propaganda over and over again is pretty powerful i'm sure.
(i'm a non-jw, non-christian (no offense), stubborn as a bull and even i had moments of pause based on some of the doctrine (lasted 30 seconds) but i never had family/friends at stake or a background in this.

If 1914 is wrong then how is it that it was such a landmark year?
by awakening inthis is the question that came up in my mind.
now dont get me wrong i know the dates from 607 - 1914 are rubbish, but how would you explain to a witness when they will automatically say, look at the momentus year 1914 was.
that is evidence enough that 607 is correct!.

Slimboyfat is right -- the WTS lucked out that 1914 and WWI coincided with one of their predictions.
All the other seven or eight Second Coming and/or Armageddon dates (I've lost count of them all) landed on years in which nothing of global significance happened. Hence all the "invisible fulfillment" prophecies.

Does the WT have any legal grounds to go after "apostates" for defamation, slander, libel?
by never a jw inquestion to all those well versed in legal issues.
all jw's, when confronted with criticism, claim that apostates lie about the wt.
i always have wondered, given the litigious environment in which we live in western democracies, why the wts doesn't go after all those websites that publish so many "lies" about "the truth".. can this lack of action on the part of the wts be used as evidence of the truthfulness of the message in "apostate" sites such as jwfacts,.

The last thing the WTS wants is to shine its ever-brightening light on apostates through slander and libel lawsuits.
Why?
Because they can't risk having their braindead dubs made aware of the huge numbers of apostates and their compelling rebuttals of WT doctrine.
It would be the kiss of death for the WTS and Jehovah's Witnesses.
